This world needs real heroes: men and women who will rise to the calling that God has given them. For Asian Americans, God calls us to resist the urge to live “safely,” not simply to pursue personal success. He calls us to boldly confront wounds from our past in order to live as whole people. He calls us to be part of a movement that will transform our culture for Christ. Real-life heroes are used by God to bring people from death into life.

The Epic Movement currently offers 6 unique summer projects, with more coming soon! They are typically 6 to 7 weeks along, about half of your summer. Epic Summer Projects are especially scheduled around quarter system schools such as UC Davis, so you will usually be able to both go on a project and attend Summer Session 2 if you wanted to.  Some go overseas to places you may never even heard of, others are here in the U.S. where you live. How and who you will be reaching out to may change depending on which project you are on, but generally Epic Projects will place you around college campuses.

Domestic Summer Projects:

Domestic Epic Summer Projects offer great training and ministry experience. If you want to grow deeper in your relationship with God and heart for the lost world around you, a domestic summer project may be a great choice for you. On project, you will be with 10-40 other students who also desire to grow in their walk with God, in how to share Jesus with others, and to learn some great ministry skills to take back to campus in the fall.

Any project experience will make for a very full schedule. You will enjoy building relationships with others on project, getting into the Word in small groups, being trained in how to grow in your own personal walk with the Lord, how to share your faith, how to spiritually multiply your life into others, and how to launch new movements on campus. You will be amazed at how the Lord with grow you and how He will use you and your project to bring others to Himself!

International Summer Projects:

On most of our International Epic Summer Projects you are part of a team starting a very new ministry. You will spend a lot of your time meeting new people, sharing your faith and doing basic follow up in a university setting. In most cases it is very relational. You are making friends and talking about Jesus. You are building relationships and bringing people to a point of decision. After you see people trust Christ you begin to do basic follow up with them and begin to help them develop the skills they will need to walk with God. The ministry you do this summer is usually followed up by a team who will be in your location for the upcoming year.

An International Epic Summer Project is an opportunity to experience a new culture (sightseeing, food, people, and culture), to be involved in international ministry and to work with a team whose common purpose is to make Christ known on the college campus. On an International Summer Project you will receive some training in how to go about ministry in a manner that is culturally relevant and sensitive to your location, however it is assumed that you know how to share your faith. If you are not comfortable or do not know how to share your faith, but are going internationally this summer, you should ask an Epic staff at your campus to teach you.

Typically, an International Summer Project gives less attention to your individual development and more attention to ministry at that location. Training and development will happen, but if your desire is specifically for training and development, a U.S. Summer Project may suit you better this summer.

This is the time when our movement gathers weekly in order to learn, grow, have fun, be challenged, and be sent out to our lives to live out our part of the epic story.

A typical meeting includes a time of worship, sharing, discussion, and a speaker… although depending on the week we may mix it up!

We would love for you to join us. We usually meet Thursdays at 8:00 PM in Giedt Hall, Room 1003.
